Are you a hands-on, analytical & well organised Marketing professional (with the main focus on new product development) who can demonstrate drive and determination?

An established FMCG company based in Cape Town, who manufacture a wide range of household products, are looking for a resilient, senior, Marketing professional to Head up their no “frills and fancy whistles” department.

Reporting directly to the MD, the purpose of this role is to drive growth (up 30 – 40% on current figures) as well as a growing margin.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, among others, the following key performance areas:

  • Support and encourage Sales Directors to understand where business growth should be coming from
  • The ability to manage complexity and multiple SKU’s
  • Must be able to analyze financial & statistical data & extract reports off the company and clients’ computer systems about what is selling, what is moving, what are the margins (can the margins be bigger), what are competitors charging?
  • Must look at the total range of Products that they have available to sell – analyze the data, check margins and costing
  • Driving the Sales Directors to push when the products have more potential than is being realized (both Sales Directors are based in Jhb)
  • Drive exports (they would like them to grow x4)
  • High involvement in sourcing

To be considered for this position, applicants will need to meet the following minimum criteria amongst others:

  • Technologically & Digitally savvy – B2B not B2C – E-Commerce is critical to their future success
  • High level of numeracy and computer literacy (Advanced Pivot tables and Presentation skills)
  • Must be able to forecast and have strategic Foresight
  • Experience and demonstrable success in strategic analysis, market trend evaluations, new market identification and product identification and development (concept to point-of-sale implementation), preferably globally
  • High level of business / commercial acumen at an executive level (cannot be so creative that they come up with a product that cannot sell or when it sells it does not make the company any money)
  • Highly Intelligent – Mental Agility
  • Forward thinking person – someone to move the goal posts & pivots the company into a whole new era

  • B Bus Sci or B Com &/or MBA
  • Successful and demonstrable FMCG marketing experience in chain retail and/or independents (hardware / housewares / plastic ware / kitchenware would be an advantage
  • 8 – 10 years’ experience in a brand orientated environment
